Lagertha's ability and confidence echos in her movements, be they the graceful sway of her hips as she walks across the room, or the determined stride that carries her across battle fields. Her smile can be friendly, or she can ground you with a challenging glare.

PERSONALITY

Lagertha is many things; A mother, a farmer, a leader, and a proud Viking Shield Maiden. Having been raised to fight and be as fierce as any man she might stand next to, Lagertha prides herself on her independence and strength of character above all else. Her value are that of the best of her people - not withstanding rape or abuse of another person, and treating each situation fairly with the thought that it deserves. Fiercely capable, Lagertha has proved her strength and loyalty to her beliefs many times over. From defending her farm home with a hot poker from would be attackers to saving the dignity and heart of women under her protection, Lagertha strives to earn the smiles of the gods.

Family will always be the first and most important thing for Lagertha. Losing a child and having a miscarriage that broke her heart solidified her already iron grip around Bjorn and Ragnar. Despite having divorved him, Lagertha respects and still adores the fact that Ragnar is her son's father, and she wishes them nothing but strenght and wellness, going far enough to disobey her second husband to come to Ragnar's rescue. The understanding of loss makes her a deeply compassionate soul when it comes to women and children. She uses this knowledge to keep a level head and clear view for herself and her warriors, making sure that they too can protect themselves as she does and might come home to their own mothers after a skirmish. This compassion and fairness extends to Ragnar's sons by Aslug. While Lagertha holds a deadly grudge against the princess, she doesn't hold the boys to their mother's fault. By all rights of the age, she did have the right to include them in her revenge, but Lagertha only ever wanted Aslug to pay for her ruination. Her opinion and decision on Asulg and the 'peace' that she made with it changed with the times and Lagertha is finding herself increasingly bitter about what she's lost.

In battle, Lagertha is legand of her own rite, known throughout the provience for her battle prowess and the clan of shieldmaidens that she has collected and trained in Hedeby for her personal and hall guard. It's for this reason she adapts an alias, Earl Ingsted, to lurk Ragnar's men into talk about her and her people going on raid to Wessex. Her love of Hedeby and responsiblities to them are another example of her devotion to the only thing she has to take care of now that Bjorn is grown, but it also speaks to her continued support of Ragnar. Her sharp mind plays in a lot of places, in knowing that the use of her true name would make getting Lords to talking campfires harder, and working around the fact that many men would question her right to be there and with them. This social fact was something that Lagertha challenges with everything she is and does.

While she can be a beautiful, charming diplomat, she will still kick anyone's ass, even in a dress.

Lagertha carries other burdens in her role as Earl, ones that she carried as a remote farmer - That of blessing the grounds and preparing a sacrifice. The knowledge of these religious rites was something taught to her by her mother and Lagertha continues to hold to the beliefs of her people. She isn't shy about slitting a cows throat for a blessing, or a man's, if the ritual calls for human sacrifice. Everything is for the gods.

Except her love.

Lagertha will always love Ragnar and will always know they will meet again in Valhalla, but she hasn't let that get in the way of her taking care of her own needs. She's confident in flirting, even more so in bed, and isn't ashamed of her body. Having had a few lovers, Lagthera proves to be coy and charming, as well as open, sexually speaking. From asking Athlestan to join her and Ragnar in bed to having a female lover later in her life, there's not much of anything that will make Lagertha shy away.
